The Staff Development Strand is designed to facilitate, co-ordinate and support activities within the area for staff that advise and support learners. Training and updates are provided for Teachers, Support Staff, Connexions Advisors, Local Authority Advisors and Training Providers, as well as those who are concerned with the continued support and learning of those individuals who fall into the widening participation cohort.
The Strand intends to:
- Hold staff development events across the 8 local authorities of the Partnership
- Produce, maintain and develop a guest speaker directory consisting of specialists and practitioners who are willing to provide presentations and support in the delivery of staff training
- Distribute promotional material throughout the Aimhigher West region advising educational and support staff with the training available to them
- Continue to develop relationships with individuals associated with widening participation across the partnership and creating successful networks within the partnership
- Provide support for Connexions Advisors, Careers Teachers and other IAG workers in understanding the nature of HE, through awareness raising events i.e. vocational pathways into HE, financial support, and student and learning support
- Provide advice, support and development for staff in schools and colleges in raising aspirations of students

- A variety of promotional material is under development; they will be designed to assist in the development of staff across the Aimhigher West partnership and associated partners
