Vocational Pathways
Return to list >>
We know that about 90% of people with A Levels will go on to higher education at some point. What is less well known is that many vocational learners, with their focus on employment, will also have Level 3 qualifications, yet be unaware that higher education may also be an option for them too.
The Vocational Pathways strand promotes an understanding of progression to HE through work-based and work-related routes. It works with young people and the organisations and individuals who work with those young people.
Activities include:
- Development and promotion of Aimhigher West’s ‘Focus on Careers’ website (www.focusoncareers.org.uk) along with integrated teachers’ learning resources for careers lessons within schools.
- Production and distribution of the booklet ‘Next Steps for Success for Advanced Apprentices, Employers and Training Providers’
- Presentations, workshops and other activities supporting progression into HE for vocational learners to young people in schools, colleges or other training provision, training providers, schools, FE Colleges, universities, parents/carers and partner organisations such as Connexions, Local Authority 14-19 Teams, Western Vocational Lifelong Learning Network and other influencers.
- Aimhigher representation on area-wide collaborative projects concerning progression to HE for vocational learners.
The strand is lead by Gloucestershire College
