Aimhigher research shows that cumulative and progressive programmes of activity centred around learners' progression to HE are much more effective than 'one off' interventions. Even though young people may enjoy the experiences tremendously, 'one off' events are not as effective in the long-term. Consequently, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) asked all Aimhigher Partnerships to develop a Learner Progression Framework.
The purpose of the Learner Progression Framework is to give learners in the target group a sequential and cumulative programme of activities that are based on learner needs and desired outcomes for learners at the different stages of their learning journey.
The Aimhigher West Area Learner Progression Framework sets out the learner needs that might be expected at each stage of a learner's journey through education, and the activities or resources that are available from the Partnership to meet these needs.
The partnership has produced two guides, one for Aimhigher Co-ordinators in target schools and one for Aimhigher Co-ordinators in FE Colleges. These are intended to support Aimhigher Co-ordinators in planning and delivering a sequential and cumulative programme of activities.
